Enkay CRM featureFollow-up management: a next date on every lead
Most enquiries are not lost to a competitor. They are lost because nobody called back on Thursday as promised. Enkay CRM gives every open lead a next follow-up date and starts each day with a list of who to call.
The problem: “I will call you on Thursday”
A solar installer in Kolhapur visits a bungalow on Monday. The owner likes the proposal for a 5 kW rooftop system but wants to talk to his brother first. “Call me on Thursday,” he says. The salesperson writes it on the back of a visiting card.
By Thursday there are six new enquiries, a site visit that ran late and a card that is somewhere in the car. The call happens the next Tuesday, if at all. By then another installer has quoted and followed up twice.
This is the most common way small businesses lose work, and it is rarely about price. A deal worth ₹3 lakh slips because a promise to call was kept in someone’s head. Follow-up software moves that promise into a list that does not forget.
How follow-ups work in Enkay CRM
Every open lead carries a next date
Each lead has a next follow-up date and a short note: “Call after he talks to brother — wants a 5 kW option with net metering.” When the call is done, mark it done and set the next date. If the customer asks for more time, snooze the follow-up by a number of days.
The Today screen is the day’s call list
Open Enkay CRM in the morning and the Today screen shows, in this order:
- Overdue follow-ups, grouped at the top, so yesterday’s missed calls are not buried.
- Today’s follow-ups, with the note you left last time.
- Open leads with no follow-up at all — the ones most likely to be forgotten, because nobody planned the next step.
That third group matters. A lead without a date is a lead nobody owns. The Today screen makes it visible so someone either plans a call or marks the lead lost.
Follow-ups the system creates for you
Some follow-ups should happen at a moment you cannot easily track by hand. Enkay CRM creates a task automatically:
- When a sent quotation is about to lapse, so you call before the price expires rather than after.
- When a customer opens a quotation you shared as a link. They are reading it now; it is a good time to ring.
- A month before an AMC contract renews, so renewals are not left to the last week.
Tasks, notes and a timeline
Beyond the next follow-up, you can add tasks with a priority (Low, Normal, High) and a status (Pending, In progress, Completed, Cancelled): “send the revised drawing”, “collect the site measurements”. Notes and an activity timeline on every lead mean that whoever picks up the call knows what was said last time. The dashboard also shows today’s follow-ups and open tasks.
Call or WhatsApp from the list
From a lead, tap to call or open WhatsApp in your own account with the number already filled in. No saving contacts, no copying numbers. More on that on the WhatsApp CRM page.
Who it is for
- Businesses with long decisions. Solar, interiors, real estate and coaching admissions often take three to six calls before a yes.
- Teams with field staff. A salesperson on site visits needs a list on the phone, not a register at the office. Enkay CRM runs in the phone’s browser and can be added to the home screen.
- Owners who want to check without asking. If the Today screen shows twelve overdue follow-ups for one person, you know where to look.
- Service businesses with AMCs. Renewal follow-ups a month ahead keep recurring revenue from lapsing.
If you are setting up a follow-up routine from scratch, our post on building a sales follow-up process covers how often to call and what to say.
What it does not do yet
- No WhatsApp, SMS, email or push reminders. Reminders live inside Enkay CRM, on the Today screen and the dashboard. The habit that works: open the Today screen first thing every morning.
- No automatic messages to customers. Enkay CRM tells you who to contact; you make the call or send the WhatsApp yourself.
- No offline mode. The app needs a data connection, including on site visits.
A daily routine that works
Follow-up software only helps if it is opened. The routine we suggest to every business on Enkay CRM is short:
- First thing in the morning, open the Today screen. Clear the overdue group before anything else; those are promises already broken.
- Work through today’s list, and after every call either set the next date or mark the lead Won or Lost. Never leave a lead with no next step.
- Before lunch, look at the “no follow-up” group. Give each lead a date or close it.
- Once a week, the owner checks overdue counts by person. A growing overdue list is the earliest sign someone has too many leads or is not calling.
Write the note as if someone else will make the next call, because on a busy day someone else might.
Which plan includes it
Follow-up dates, snoozing, the Today screen, tasks and notes are on the Free plan for one user, with unlimited leads and follow-ups.
The Business plan (₹499 a month for the whole business, unlimited users) adds assignment so each person sees their own follow-ups, plus quotations and AMC contracts — which is where the automatic quotation and renewal follow-ups come from. See pricing.
Follow-ups work best on top of a clean lead list, and they feed straight into the sales pipeline, where each call moves a lead a stage further.
Frequently asked questions
Does Enkay CRM send follow-up reminders on WhatsApp or SMS?
Not yet. Reminders appear inside the app, on the Today screen and the dashboard. There are no WhatsApp, SMS, email or push reminders at the moment, so make opening the Today screen the first thing your team does each morning.
What is the Today screen?
It is the daily call list. Overdue follow-ups are grouped at the top, then follow-ups due today, then open leads that have no follow-up date at all, so nothing is quietly forgotten.
Can I push a follow-up to later?
Yes. Snooze a follow-up by a number of days, or mark it done and set the next date. Each follow-up has a note, so you remember what you promised.
Are any follow-ups created automatically?
Yes, three kinds: when a quotation you sent is about to lapse, when a customer opens a quotation you shared, and a month before an AMC contract renews.
Is follow-up management on the Free plan?
Yes. The Free plan includes unlimited leads and follow-ups for one user. Quotation and AMC follow-ups depend on quotations and AMC contracts, which are on the Business plan.
